Working and treatment of Zofran - Ondansetron
Ondansetron (generic name) being marketed as Zofran (brand name) is used to block the chemical activity taking place inside our body which induces nausea and vomiting. Generally Zofran is used to prevent vomiting and nausea which can occur after either surgery or by medicine which is used to cure cancer (in both chemotherapy and radiation).

Active molecule present in Zofran are 5-HT3 receptor antagonists which are used for the prevention of both chemotherapy induced nausea as well as vomiting (often abbreviated as CNIV). Zofran is generally given around a half an hour ago from the time period the therapy commences and usually it is given intravenously.

Zofran is available mostly in three forms: First being an oral solution, the second being tablets which can be taken with water and the last form is oral tablets which gets disintegrated as soon as it mixes with the saliva present in mouth though little precautions have to be taken if you are opting for oral dosage. However it should be avoided in first trimester of pregnancy state.

You should take Zofran as per the prescription of the doctor and as it is bound to incur side affects thus its overdosage should be avoided. It can be taken along with the food or without the food but the dose of Zofran should always be accompanied with a glass of water. Also care must be taken to store it in moist and cool place.
